278.A much used U.S. BOLO knife by Plumb and marked 1918. This old knife has no guard and blade is pitted. It is however marked U.S.M.C. for the Marine Corps, a rare and desirable marking.$65

370.U.S. Cavalry Officers, dress cape, circa 1870, by John G. Haas, Washington, D.C. who was the custom tailor to high ranking officers. Dark blue wool outer layer with bright yellow wool lining. Has the gold braid piping or edging around outer edge and velvet collar. Beautiful original condition and we believe that the survival rate of these is nill. You will look the world over to find a better one. At a Little John auction last year, one of these, by this same maker but with RED ARTILLERY lining brought $3450. A cavalry collector's dream come true!,$4000

607.BUFFALO HIDE COAT AS WORN BY THE U.S. MILITARY AND OTHERS DURING THE SEVERE WINTER WEATHER, HERE IN THE WEST. These big coats allowed the military to conduct winter campaigns against the Northern Plains Indians. As such, they were directly responsible for the defeat of the Plains Indians. They replaced the woolen overcoats, capes and blankets that the Army had previously issued and were not warm enough to enable soldiers to withstand the cold winter weather. Prior to receiving these coats and other gear made of buffalo hide, the military suffered greatly.$1450

Items include dress helmet eagle plate with overlaid 7; empty cartridge cases (pistol and rifle), saddle size shields, buckles, buttons, saddle rivets, QMD fork, a portion of a jackknife, etc.$550

797.U.S. lanyard for either the 1911 or the 1917 service handguns. Only markings are the patent date - Feb. 20 '17 - 1/4' cotton cord, brass fittings/clip, 32' overall. Ideal for completing any World War I handgun display. Hard to find. Very good condition.$155

These were knives made by servicemen, usually from parts of downed enemy airplanes such as plastic, plexus glass, aluminum, etc. The blades were usually made from hardened steel, bayonets, or other available knives. This one has a double edge 7 1/2 inch blade. An attractive well made piece.$225

1048.U.S. THEATER KNIFE OF WW-II, MARKED ORAN-RUIZ. A well made, hand made knife with 6 1/2 inch blade and aluminum guard and handle. Also has the name of the former owner, Lt. John A. Schaaf. A well made knife, complete with it's original leather sheath.$285

1051.GERMAN MADE SHORT SWORD BY WESTER & CO. SOLINGEN. Patterned after the early Roman short sword, these were copied by many countries as well as the U.S. model of 1832. The hilt of cast brass including the cross guard. This one has rings rather than the fish scale design on the hilt. A single fuller on the heavy 19 inch blade. Both the North and the South produced variants of this sword including importing them from Europe. This one could well have been used by either side. A very popular sword but I would hate to go into battle with this my only weapon. Sorry, no scabbard with this one.$350

1055.LARGE SPANISH SHORT SWORD BY ARTaFABa DE TOLEDO, 1876 AND SO MARKED. A broad 16 1/4 inch single edge blade with cast brass hilt with fish scales topped with a flaming bomb and brass cross guard. A really big imposing sword with brass bound leather scabbard in very good condition overall.$375
